Critic Notes

Interesting liquorice note on the nose here. Very smooth and suave but with no shortage of tannin underneath. Good potential. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2025-2040

The 2016 Carteau Côtes Daugay is beautifully persistent in the glass, with exceptional balance and tons of personality. Although not as obvious as many other wines in this vintage, the Côtes Daugay is simply impeccable in every way. There is lovely depth to the red-toned fruit, cedar, tobacco and earth-driven notes. The 2016 Carteau Cotes Daugay has an intense bouquet with earthy black fruit, maybe a little rustic compared to its peers, but at least there is personality here. The palate is ripe and sweet on the entry, moderate depth but revealing a tad too much extraction on the oaky finish. This could have been better. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2019-2028
