Critic Notes

The Carbonnieux Blanc has a certain strictness and linearity on the nose but opens nicely with crisp green apple, citrus peel and a touch of grass cuttings. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry with delicate touches of white peach and dried pineapple, demonstrating good tension and persistency on the finish. This is an admirable Carbonnieux Blanc that should age well over a decade. Tasted April 2011. Neal Martin erobertparker.com

Fine lifted lemony fruit, a lovely expression of the northern Graves, florality, fruit and acidity all in balance. Drink 2012-16. (17 points). Steven Spurrier, decanter.com

Score: 17-/20Decanter

Rounded and inviting, with hints of pear and apple giving way to more citrus, floral and straw notes. This has good range, with a brisk edge waiting in the wings on the finish. —J.M. James Molseworth, winespectator.com

Score: 89-92/100Wine Spectator

Pale greyish green. Smoky, Sauvignon aromas with an undertow of medium body. Bone-dry finish. Does the business though without that much élan. Sleek and very refreshing and readable. Oak very discreet. Needs time perhaps? Still quite astringent. jancisrobinson.com

I like the blueberry, menthol and mineral character, with full body, and silky, refined tannins. Tiny bit short. James Suckling jamessuckling.com

This is a delicious, crisp, white with focused vibrant flavours that dance on your tongue. A delightful light- bodied white Bordeaux with a fairly long finish. Jeannie Cho Lee MW asianpalate.com

Opportunities to taste back vintages from this famous estate alongside the winemaking team are few and far between, so when the possibility arose, we leapt at the chance. The result was a unique tasting at ...

Blankbottle & Keermont visit F+R

Blankbottle in contrast source their grapes from remote vineyards all over the Cape, applying ad hoc creative winemaking approaches as necessity dictates. Blankbottle produces up to 47 different cuvees in ...

The Cheval Blanc team invests their savoir-faire into Cheval des Andes
Cheval des Andes has always been a project closely associated with Chateau Cheval Blanc. The Argentine project started as a collaboration between Pierre Lurton (CEO of Cheval Blanc) and Roberto De La Motta (Argentine vigneron initially behind the wines of Terrazas de los Andes). From its inaugural vintage in 2001 up until 2006 Roberto was the winemaker before winemaking duties ...

BLANKbottle: Introducing the wines of Pieter H. Walser
Pieter H. Walser, the man behind BLANKbottle, is one of the most inventive, energetic and productive winemakers in the Western Cape. He produces 30+ cuvees a year, each with its own unique story and presented in a "blank" bottle... well not exactly! The bottles have no mention of varietal but tend to have an artistic interpretation of what’s inside. It ...
