Dense and layered barrel sample offering plenty of ripe fruit, yet it remains linear and focused with a firm tannin profile that keeps the form of the wine now. Mar 2017, www.jamessuckling.com
The 2016 Cantin is plump, juicy and straightforward. There is nothing complex or overdone here; rather, all the elements simply fall into place. Dark red and purplish stone fruits, wildflowers, mint and spice notes flesh out in a supple, tasty Saint-Émilion that will drink well upon release. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
The 2016 Cantin has a glossy, rich bouquet of blueberry and crème de cassis fruit, plenty of new oak here but it seems married nicely to the structure. The palate is medium-bodied with a very sweet entry, kirsch and red cherries dominating with a silky smooth, perhaps predictable yet enjoyable finish.
