An elegant, attractive wine, with a dark ruby color, red and black currant fruit and dusty, loamy soil undertones, this mid-weight, stylish red doesn’t have much substance or body, but is quite well-made and clearly represents an intelligent option in 2013, where extraction and power couldn’t be achieved because of the difficult conditions. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Wine Advocate.August, 2014
Score: 86-88 / 100 Robert Parker
The 2013 Cantemerle has an austere, tobacco-tinged, tertiary bouquet that feels hollow. The palate is raw at the moment and the tannins abrasive with a tough, rather green finish. I will seek to re-taste this because even in a difficult vintage like this, Cantemerle ought to be better. Oct 2016, www.robertparker.com
