This equal blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc from the Smith-Haut-Lafitte team is well worth seeking out. Aromatic and sappy, with less alcohol than many wines of the vintage, it’s zesty, crunchy and fresh but with enough power to integrate its 50% new oak. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2017-2023
34% Sauvignon Blanc, picked 8 and 9 Sep, 66% Sémillon, picked 5 and 7 Sep. The several lots are kept separate. Still in barrique - they started barrel fermentation in 2012. Looks quite dense! Still tight and embryonic. This is becoming more like their Champs Libres in terms of build and tension. Masses of acidity. But then both varieties were picked relatively early. Tight and youthful. Vibrant. Ambitious. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2017-2019
The 2015 Cantelys Blanc, a blend of 50/50 Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, has a chalky bouquet that just needs a little more fruité to develop. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, not a complex white Pessac-Léognan, but well balanced with an attractive pineapple and guava-tinged finish designed for wide appeal. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2018-2025
The 2015 Cantelys Blanc is laced with attractive citrus and floral notes, along with the extra bit of mid-palate generosity that comes from the significant presence of Sémillon. Drink this crisp, refreshing white over the next year or two. The blend is equal parts Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Apr 2016,
