This youthful and unyielding wine tastes less impressive than I had first predicted. I also have increasing concerns about whether there is adequate fruit to stand up to the high acidity and ferocious tannins. The color is a vibrant deep ruby. The nose offers little more than dusty wood and spicy elements, with vague red fruit aromas lurking in the background. Hard, lean, tough, and compact, this is a perplexing wine to evaluate. Is it losing its fruit, or is it going through an ungracious, frightfully closed, unflattering stage of development? Last tasted 6/93. Wine Advocate.August, 1993
