This is a good Cambon, benefitting from vineyard replanting and other investments. The vines have been relocated close to du Tertre, and you can feel the start of a Margaux-tinged florality and classicism. The fruits are dark, tight and vibrant, and the tannins close in on the finish. The best for years. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. Hubert de Bouard consults. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2023-2038
The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse is fabulous. Pliant, generous and totally sexy, the 2016 exudes richness in all of its dimensions. Succulent red cherry, plum, leather, spice and herb notes build into the resonant, fleshy finish. I expect the 2016 will drink well right out of the gate. Hubert de Boüard consults. Tasted two times. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
The 2016 Cambon la Pelouse felt a little disjointed on the nose with quite strong undergrowth aromas percolating through the black fruit. The palate is balanced with stringy tannin, moderate depth with a precise and detailed finish. All it needs is more vigor and intent. Arp 17, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2019-2030 Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2019-2030
Savoury and appetising nose. Rich and flattering fruity palate. Still very youthful. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2023-2035
Fresh, modest and open in feel, with gentle plum and cherry notes, backed by a twinge of dried savory on the finish. Apr 2017, James Molesworth, www.winespectator.com
The 2016 Cambon la Pelouse has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and a nose of cassis, earth and bay leaves with hints of pencil lead. The medium-bodied palate is firm and chewy, finishing with an herbal lift. Nov 2018, www.robertparker.com
