N.V. Bunnahabhain - 'Abhainn Araig ’ Feis Ile 2022 (PX cask finish) (50.8%)

Bunnahabhain’s 2022 Fèis Ìle bottling is truly special. Abhainn Araig is a marriage of unpeated spirit matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Octave casks – some of the smallest and most concentrated maturation vessels. The resulting liquid is named after the Araig River which feeds into the distillery’s water source. The nose opens with decadent dark chocolate, coffee and nutmeg, before a fragrant incense note arrives to elevate the PX influence, bringing greater complexity. On the palate, the dessert character becomes drier, with cinnamon, pecan, hazelnut and even sweet chilli coming through. The finish is gently warming, reminiscent of a sweetly spiced treacle.
