The 1970 is a dark ruby wine that is now approaching maturity. This Branaire is a plump, somewhat fat wine, with good, chewy fruit, some coarse, dusty tannins, and plenty of oak aromas. Big and powerful rather than elegant, it is a good, but not excellent wine for the chateau. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 2/83. Jan 1998, www.robertparker.com
