The 2016 Boutisse is simply gorgeous. Pliant and vibrant on the palate, the wine pulses with energy. Red and purplish stone fruit are given an extra kick of exotic beauty in this rich, sumptuous Saint-Émilion. The presence of Cabernet Franc and Carménère in the blend adds complexity and nuance. All the elements fall into place. This is a super-attractive wine. Julien Lavenu and Arnaud Gimonnet consult. Apr 2017,
The 2016 Boutisse, owned by Xavier and Marc Milhade, has a slightly pinched bouquet at first, unfolding with time to reveal blackberry and blueberry scents. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, very pure and with a silky smooth texture, gaining depth towards a lovely, quite sophisticated finish. This Saint Emilion gets better as it goes along! Apr 2017,, Drink: 2019-2033
Rather appetising perfume and concentration on the nose and then it turned into something very drying and stolid unfortunately on the palate. No follow through. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2020-2026
This is an attractive early to medium drinker offering fresh red fruits. Carmenère often tastes a little austere in its youth, and here we have a tightening on the attack, but some beautiful spiciness through the palate. It's a little bit drying on the finish. A blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Carmenère. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2025-2040
