Critic Notes

The 2013 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, from the Chambolle side, has a beautiful bouquet that is pure and sensual: black cherry and red plum, hints of blueberry emerging with aeration. The palate is sleek and silky on the entry with very good depth of fruit, a little sharpness originating from the citric acidity and a dash of spice on the finish. This will need 5 to 7 years in bottle before broaching with a waiter's friend. Dec 2014, www.robertparker.com

2011 Bordeaux: What a difference a fortnight makes
Returning to Bordeaux two weeks after our initial tastings has been an eye opening experience. The plan this week wasn't to taste any wine at all but instead to make short films with chateaux owners and winemakers so they could describe the 2011 vintage in their own words. Along the way we have had the good fortune to retaste Lafite and siblings ...

The F+R Annual Clos Vougeot Tasting Makes it to Hong Kong
In December we hosted our largest event in Hong Kong to date. In a spin off from our annual tasting in London, we cracked open 20 different bottles of Clos Vougeot – all from different producers, all from the same vintage: 2011. As a bit of a challenge, we kept things interesting by serving each wine blind. Tasting blind is ...

"A Wine That Makes You Smile": A Gem Discovered on our Trip to Montalcino
Before the prose: this is one of the best wines I have tasted this year. A wine with energy, a wine with bounce, a wine that makes you smile. We tasted it against a Brunello and a Brunello Riserva and it trounced them both. As luck would have it we found a bottle - not on the list – at ...

Domaine Georges Roumier Vertical Tasting
A very special thank you to Jordi Orriols-Gil for sourcing the incredible collection below and making this evening possible. It is not often one sits down to a 30-wine vertical tasting over dinner. And when 27 out of those 30 wines are Domaine Georges Roumier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, dating from 2007 all the way back to 1945, it's hard not to ...

Domaine Georges Lignier - 2018 Vintage Update
Domaine Georges Lignier has some of the most enviable Grand Cru sites in Burgundy with significant holdings in Clos de la Roche, Clos St Denis and Bonnes Mares. Based in the village of Morey St Denis, the domaine is today run by the ever-thoughtful Benoit Stehly, the great grandson of Georges Lignier, who has been in charge of the property since 2007. It ...
