Critic Notes
Macau-en-Médoc, same group as Belle-Vue and Gironville. On the palus. Lots of Petit Verdot here. What a colour! So dense and dark crimson! Very rich and ripe on the nose. Very attention grabbing. Rather drying finish. A note of green. Dramatic. Just a little exaggerated perhaps. Tasted 3 Apr: From the Mulliez Belle-Vue stable. Sample taken five days ago… Very dark purple. Still fresh if not exactly intense on the nose. Very correct with good balance and purity. Not that much flesh (but NB sample date on front label). Good effort with real depth on the palate and an appetising dry finish. (Score: 16 14-18) jancisrobinson.com

Bolaire Produced from an unusual blend of 40% Petit Verdot, 35% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, the goal is to move the property to an even higher percentage of Petit Verdot with the hopes the wine will eventually become an even mix of Petit Verdot and Merlot. With wood, black raspberry, cassis and flower scents, this medium bodied wine offers a lot of freshness, spice and cassis ending with hints of pepper and slightly green tints in the finish. 87-89 Pts Jeff Leve winecellarinsider.com

The wine is surprisingly dark berry-fruited with more minerality than Bordeaux Superieur tends to possess. There is plenty of fruit as well, and the medium-bodied, nicely concentrated finish has no hard edges. Drink it over the next several years. Feb 2013, www.robertparker.com

Expressive, with a vivid beam of plum and cassis flavors backed by sweet spice. There's not a lot of range, but this is fresh, with ripe fruit. —J.M. James Molseworth, winespectator.com

This is a very attractive wine with juicy plummy fruit made in a modern style. The tannins are very well handled but the flavours lack depth and nuances. A full-bodied modern clean Bordeaux red which will drink well over the next 5-8 years. Jeannie Cho Lee MW asianpalate.com

Just a faint touch of over-ripeness on the nose but nothing to get worried about. The palate is a little chewy on the entry, good weight of fruit but just a little smudged and lacking delineation towards the finish. Tasted April 2011. Neal Martin erobertparker.com
