This is a fantastic Blason with gorgeous fruit and velvety tannins. Full-bodied and dense with soft and velvety tannins. Lovely acidity at the end. Best ever second wine from here. Mar 2017, www.jamessuckling.com

Fresh and penetrating aroma. Luscious texture. Doesn’t taste like a second wine! Just a little stodgy on the finish. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2020-2026

The grand vin was one of the most successful Margaux in this vintage and this is equally a very good second wine. It carries the family resemblance, although doesn't quite have the same lift through the body. Enjoyable grilled almond touches on the palate, it is seductive and well judged for early to medium drinking. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2023-2038

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Blason d'Issan features cassis, plums and earth on the nose with an undercurrent of bay leaves and tobacco. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with good concentration and length. Nov 2018, www.robertparker.com

The 2016 Blason d'Issan is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 60% Merlot matured in 35% new oak. It has a light, slightly earthy bouquet with blackberry and autumn leaf aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly hard tannin on the entry, quite crisp, but there is a touch of hardness on the finish that will need to be addressed during the élevage.
