A spicy, earthy, rich and minerally second wine from L’Evangile. Full-bodied, juicy, long and very flavorful. Mar 17,
The Cabernet suffered more from the summer drought than the Merlot, hence its higher levels in this second wine, but this is a good quality, succulent Blason de l'Evangile with sweet black cherry fruit. 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2023-2038
Picked 26 September to 10 October. Lots of Cabernet Franc, 26%, because it suffers in the drought so it mostly went into this second wine. Amazingly deep colour with a bit of herbaceousness. But not aggressively so. This would be a very nice early drink. Lightly drying sandpaper tannins on the end. Good luxurious oak here!  Apr 2017,, Drink: 2022-2032
The 2016 Blason de L'Evangile is a blend of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. It has a tightly wound bouquet, a little coquettish at first but opening nicely with black cherries, a touch of blueberry and minerals. The palate is medium-bodied with rather rigid tannin on the entry, a masculine Deuxième Vin, quite spicy with a dash of white pepper on the finish.
