Critic Notes

Firm and tight now with ripe, polished tannins and a savory finish. Balanced and bright. Mar 2016, JamesSuckling.com

Score: 90-91/100James Suckling

Rich, well-extracted fruit that dominates the fine tannins. Very good wine. Apr 2016, Steven Spurrier, www.Decanter.com, Drink: 2020-2028

The 2015 Belle-Vue wraps around the palate with gorgeous depth. Sweet floral and savory notes add lift to a core of dark red cherry jam and raspberry. Silky tannins give this mid-weight, supple Haut-Médoc much of its undeniable appeal. Expressive floral and minty notes add the closing shades of complexity. The estate's gravelly soils and location towards the north of Macau were both huge advantages in 2015. The blend is 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot. Apr 2016, www.Vinous.com

On the lighter side for now, with red currant and blood orange fruit, but there’s good flesh on the back end and solid iron and toast notes for range. Should probably fill in a bit more. Mar 2016, James Molesworth, www.WineSpectator.com

Mid purple. Really savoury, sophisticated classic claret. Great level of ripeness but a dry, appetising finish. Not a whopper but just what a ripe Médoc should taste like. Admirable energy. Apr 2016, www.JancisRobinson.com, Drink: 2021-2028

2014: THE F+R PICKS. SMITH-HAUT-LAFITTE
They know what they’re doing at Smith-Haut-Lafitte.
