This forty-acre vineyard, primarily on the limestone plateau of St.-Emilion, has turned out a very successful wine, which one expects from the Becot family, who have always been committed to quality. A blend of 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is deep ruby/purple with a sweet nose of graphite, charcoal, black currant and black cherry fruit. It has an attractive, subtle smokiness, nicely restrained new oak, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and outstanding concentration and length. This is a complete St.-Emilion that should be at is best between 2012 and 2025. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate # 181
Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' 2006 tasting, the 2006 Chateau Beausejour-Becot did not fire on all cylinders as I was expecting. The nose is vibrant with dark berry, blackberry and strawberry preserve, well defined and generous with faint smoky notes developing. The palate is medium-bodied, spicy on the entry with moderate weight, fleshy but just attenuating slightly towards the finish. It has an easy-going sensibility that surprised me, though I suspect that with decanting this would gain more substance. Tasted April 2016. May 2016,
Relatively pale. Straightforward fruit, quite readable. Good balance and not forced. Some concentration. Lip smacking and, 20 Jan 2010
Blackberry and mineral aromas follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a long, rich finish. Shows impressive structure and character for the vintage. Best after 2012. 5,416 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2009
