A plump, medium-bodied, pleasure-bent effort with lots to like, the 2021 Château Beauregard gives up plenty of red and darker, almost black fruits as well as chocolate, spice, and a touch of tobacco. It's not the biggest or richest Pomerol out there, but it has terrific purity, ripe tannins, and is going to put a smile on your face on release.

The 2021 Beauregard is bold, racy juicy super-expressive in this tasting, with terrific fruit presence and fine balance. All the elements come together nicely in a supple Pomerol that is all charm. Succulent red cherry, plum, mocha, spice and licorice are front and center. This is a strong showing. Tasted two times.

A pretty young red with berry and cherry aromas and walnut undertones. Medium body. Fine tannins.

Licorice, flowers, spice and plums already show in the nose. The wine is medium-bodied, soft, forward, fresh and already charming, with its core of chocolate covered black raspberries and spice. The wine blends 75% Merlot with 25% Cabernet Franc, 13% ABV.

The 2021 Beauregard was picked between September 29 and October 11 at 26hL/ha. It has a well-defined bouquet of pretty red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, cedar and rose petal emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, well-integrated oak and a light, slightly peppery finish thanks to the 30% Cabernet Franc. All it lacks is a bit of sustain on the aftertaste. Très Pomerol. 13% alcohol

The 2021 Beauregard is composed of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it features notes of stewed black plums, mulberries, and fragrant earth, giving way to hints of tar and truffles. Medium-bodied, it is soft and juicy in the mouth, with just enough freshness and a savory finish.

A wine that improved notably over the three weeks I spent in Bordeaux, the 2021 Beauregard offers up aromas of cherries, sweet berries, pipe tobacco, loamy soil and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, it's generous and textural, with a layered core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, penetrating finish. It's a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc this year.

Perfumed and black fruits on the nose. This has a nice suppleness on the palate, gently textured tannins that are softly chewy with a liquorice and slate element to them making them savoury and mineral and also a little robust but supporting the black fruits. This is layered and ample with a beautiful precision to the fruit and well-worked tannins that give the frame. I also love the bitter black chocolate edges that sustain the long finish.

Ruby red in colour, attractive raspberry and loganberry fruits on the opening beats, and a classic blend despite a low 29hl/h yield. There is precision and careful sculpting of the fruits, with signature Cabernet Franc floral notes curling up out of the glass, but this is skirting ripeness and a little austere on the finish. Needs to soften up further over ageing to deliver a truly signature Pomerol vintage. Tasted twice.
