Critic Notes

The Beaumont has an attractive nose with ripe raspberry and strawberry fruit laced with cedar. The palate is well balanced with chunky tannins, but they have extracted the fruit well without overdoing it and the result is a simple but finely tuned Bordeaux 2011 to drink over the next 5-8 years. Tasted April 2012. Neal Martin, eRobertParker.com

Blackish crimson. Slightly leafy black fruit. Pretty firm and dry and rather hard work on the finish, fresh nevertheless and the tannins are not aggressive, just very firm. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com

Score: 15.5-/20Jancis Robinson

For a supposed early drinker the 2011 Beaumont could have done with a tick less tannin. It's well concentrated though and if it can shed some of the dryness will be ok.

Attractive cassis fruit, nice smoothness and some charm as well as grip. Drink 2014-2018. Decanter.com

Score: 15-/20Decanter

Dark plum, black currant and fig notes are melded together at the core, with ample tobacco and roasted wood spice hints starting to fill in along the edges. There's lots of singed wood on the finish, but also plenty of flesh and drive. A little bit old-school. James Molesworth, WineSpectator.com

2014: THE F+R PICKS. SMITH-HAUT-LAFITTE
They know what they’re doing at Smith-Haut-Lafitte. This is one of the few properties in Bordeaux that really engages with the end customer, and one that is particularly aware of the commercial realities of what they are making. The Cathiards, owners since 1990, have a clear ambition - to be the best - and they are well on this road. ...

Haut-Brion 2009: Double Magnums & Imperials
Robert Parker calls this 100 point scoring Haut-Brion 2009 "one of the most compelling examples of Haut-Brion ever made" and we have a handful of exceedingly rare 3 and 6 litre formats available... According to Jancis Robinson Haut-Brion 2009 combines "pleasure and luxury", and what could offer more pleasure or be more luxurious than the same wine in double magnum ...

Bordeaux Radicals: Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion
