The Brane-Cantenac site has been producing wine since the 17th century. Initially named Domaine Guilhem H. Hostein, the property was bought by the Gorce family in the 18th century, changing the name of the property to Chateau Gorce-Guy, with the Gorce family further developing the vineyard and the wine’s reputation. Around the late 1700s it produced one of the most well renowned and expensive wines in the Medoc.
