Fantastic wine from this estate with gorgeous ripe fruit and dense tannins that give this wine a soft and velvety texture. Long and flavorful. A wonderful follow-up to the 2015. Mar 2017, www.jamessuckling.com
The 2016 Arnauld has a delightful floral bouquet with scents of black cherry and orange rind, well defined and displaying neatly integrated oak. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, supple and "fluid" in the mouth with a lovely caressing, very pure finish. What a great Cru Bourgeois! Seek this out. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2019-2030
With a new vat room in 2014 and Hubert de Bouard as consultant, this 17ha estate, located between Margaux and Moulis on a plateau overlooking the river, is pushing its ambitions. The results are clear to see, with rich, concentrated and pure damson and sloe berries accompanied by a silky texture and spicy liquorice notes. They could have a little more light in between the fruit, however, as it is a little too marked by the oak - something that is unusual in 2016. Cropping at 35hl/ha is fairly low for 2016, but they did two green harvests here - perhaps unnecessary when there was such an abundance of natural concentration in the vintage. But I'm quibbling; this is an excellent value wine with great potential that delivers personality. 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot aged in 85% new oak. 3.4pH. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2023-2038
60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, handpicked and about 40 years old. Very dark purplish crimson. Fresh ferny top note on lively, ambitious blend that is not at all far from the impression that many crus classés give. Firm round tannins on the end. Proper stuff!  Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2022-2030
