Of the few successful wines of the vintage in St.-Emilion, the 1991 reveals a complex bouquet of chocolate, coffee, toasty new oak, herbs, and jammy red fruits. Lusciously ripe fruit is presented in a medium-bodied, sweet, round format that offers immediate gratification. It should drink well for another 5-6 years. Given how difficult the 1991 vintage was, this effort is noteworthy. Feb 1994, www.robertparker.com
