Beautifully balanced, this elegant red features a skein of aromatic spice unraveling through the cherry compote, smoky espresso, fig cake and loamy earth flavors, layered with silky tannins in a harmonious frame. The mouthwatering finish echoes notes of brambly berry and forest floor. Drink now through 2030. 110 cases imported. Oct 16, www.winespectator.com

Score: 94-/100Wine Spectator

"Intoxicating nose of crushed flowers, dark earth, prune and wild herbs. The palate is so elegant yet rich and concentrated with flavours of morello cherry, mineral, baking spice and sweet almond. A silk thread of acidity runs through soft, supple tannins followed by a red berry infused finish. Perfectly balanced with a defined beginning, middle and long finish. An elegant and slightly leaner version of the 2004."

Rosso Della Centa - The First Great Friuli Red
We have unearthed an absolute gem in the guise of Rosso della Centa. A 100% Merlot wine grown on just one hectare of a distinct marl clay hillside in Friuli, Italy. The wine is the creation of one of Italy’s top winemakers Nicola Manferrari who first produced the wine in 1985 and has gone on to release it only in ...

Dal Forno's quest for perfection
This month Decanter magazine gave the Amarone 99 points and the baby brother Valpolicella Superiore a massive 98 points.... Andrew Jefford recently describes Dal Forno as -* a hymn to technical innovation and perfection *- true n’th degree wines of extraordinary consistency, with powerful and almost shattering personalities. They are generosity incarnate but are nonetheless faithful renditions of the aromas ...

Port 2017: The New Vintage Declaration
Yesterday we got our first in-depth look at the latest Vintage Ports from 2017. It is a rare event indeed to have two vintages (2016 and 2017) so widely declared back to back. But according to all the top Port houses, the 2017s are without question a match for 2016s, albeit with wines possessing a very different profile. Even ...
