Critic Notes

The 2013 Aloxe-Corton Village finished its malolactic in June, earlier than the other Follin-Arbelet wines. It has a fragrant bouquet of dark berries, briary and forest floor notes, quite contained at the moment. The palate is underpinned by bright red cherry and raspberry notes, fine tannins and a foursquare finish that offers good density and purity. I much prefer this to the Pernand-Vergelesses Fichots that I tasted just before. Dec 2014, www.robertparker.com

Six iconic Burgundy wines
1. 2012 Romanee Conti Domaine De La Romanee Conti Average Score: 99pts Neal Martin (99 pts) - Usually, choosing between La Tache and Romanee-Conti is like choosing between your two favourite children. Not this year. The 2012 Romanee-Conti is one of the most spellbinding that I have tasted since I began 17 years ago. The bouquet is quite astonishing with ...

A showcase of Faiveley wines at the Annual Domaine Faiveley Grand Cru lunch
On a sunny afternoon last week, my fellow Private Client Account Managers, Martin and Peter and I attended an insightful tasting of the wines of Domaine Faiveley. Hosted by winemaker Erwan Faiveley, this was more than a regular tasting with lunch. Held at the two Michelin starred ‘The Square’, chef Phillip Howard devised a menu that beautifully and sympathetically allowed ...
