Lovely white with tropical fruit character such as papaya and apple. Full, round and fruity. This is a beautiful wine for early enjoyment. 62% Sauvignon Blanc and the rest Semillon. James Suckling,
The 2012 Aile d'Argent Blanc has much more intensity on the nose compared to the 2013, bridled with apricot blossom and fresh grapefruit bursting from the glass. The palate is crisp and fresh, slightly waxy in texture with a fine bead of acidity and a detailed, quite pithy finish that lingers pleasantly in the mouth. One of the best Aile d'Argent from the estate in recent years, this is going to give a dozen years of pleasure, if you can resist temptation. Tasted August 2015. Jun 2016,
Probably the finest dry white the staff at Mouton-Rothschild has yet produced (although the 2010 was also very impressive), the 2012 Aile d’Argent is a blend of 62% Sauvignon Blanc and the rest Semillon and Sauvignon Gris and is put through partial malolactic. It is an exotic, tropical fruit-scented effort displaying lots of mango, pineapple, honeysuckle and wet gravel-like notes. Medium-bodied, intense and impressive, it should drink well for 5-8 years.
