One of the stronger efforts I have tasted from Mouton-Rothschild, this wine, which is 70% Sauvignon Blanc and the rest Semillon coming from the clay and gravelly soils of the Mouton-Rothschild vineyard, exhibits more fat and opulence than normal. An abundance of marmalade notes intermixed with waxy lemon butter are all present in this honeyed, crisp, refreshing wine, which has loads of personality. Anticipated maturity: now-2022. Wine Advocate.February, 2012
Lemon pale, fine and floral with pure hedgerow spring flowers and dry herbs, well balanced acidity, more elegant than in previous years. Drink 2011-15
A white with lots of dried pineapple, Brazilian lime and lemon as well as apple pie and cream. Full and fruity, with lovely fruit and thick texture. Rich finish
Spicy, stinky nose. Racy and a bit sweet. A superior bordeaux blanc but not nearly as subtle as Pavillon Blanc.
Tasted at Château Mouton-Rothschild, the Aile d’Argent is a blend of 72% Sauvignon Blanc and 26% Semillon and 1% Muscadelle, with a little more malolactic this year, with tropical fruits, pineapple and a touch of guava on the nose. The palate is well balanced, quite leesy, touches of dried pineapple and apricot. Simple and straightforward. Tasted March 2010
