The 2017 Mazeyres has a very refined bouquet, nicely focused with lifted red fruit, hints of truffle and sous-bois. I like the stylishness of this Pomerol. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well-judged acidity and seamlessly integrated oak. This is often one of the strongest performers from the western flank of the appellation and the 2017 is no different – a little gem from Alain Moueix.
Deep crimson. Deep, dark and spicy on the nose. Almost savoury in that dark character. Very oaky on the palate, with just enough fruit to balance. Fresh enough but the oak is a little overpowering. Firm, grippy texture. (JH)
Nice core of fruit and spices. Medium-bodied and fresh and bright on the finish. Nicely done.
