We are very pleased to offer the 2013 High Sands Grenache from Yangarra Estate Vineyard. With 97 points from both Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW and James Halliday, and available in rare cases of six, this is worth serious consideration.
Yangarra says simply that “High Sands is our Grail”. A 100% Grenache crafted from gnarly 70 year old bush vines, it is an extraordinary wine, with the 2013 vintage nothing short of game-changing. Critic Lisa Perrotti-Brown awarded it 97+ points, writing that “Yangarra hits a whole other level with this vintage of High Sands”, while James Halliday concurred saying “this is in another league altogether” and also awarding 97 points.
Yangarra are a gold standard in McLaren Vale, a region which, in the words of Perrotti-Brown, “remains top of the class”. In her recent tasting of Southern Australian wines, the High Sands beat some serious competition to place at the very top of the table above over130 wines. With 97+ points it was closely followed by the Yangarra Ironheart Shiraz in second place - proof of just how good this estate and its wines really are.
Only two old oak barrels are made of the High Sands, resulting in a miniscule quantities. Given the huge success of the 2013 vintage, the winery has limited sales to just 3 bottles a customer, yet we are able to offer them in cases of six, making this an unmissable opportunity to snap up one of the McLaren Vale’s most exciting wines.
