We are delighted to offer three Pinot Noirs from Two Paddocks, the Central Otago winery making waves with its 'glorious' single vineyard wines. Described as "full of promise" by James Suckling and "glorious" by NZ wine expert Sam Kim, these incredible finds are unmissable buys for all fans of Pinot Noir...

Two Paddocks is a winery with a story. Founded in 1993, it is owned and run by Hollywood actor Sam Neill. Sam was born in Northern Ireland but raised in New Zealand’s wine country, an upbringing which gave him a life-long interest in wine. Two Paddocks began with a few acres of Pinot Noir in Gibbston in 1993, and has since been expanded to include four distinct vineyards. Sam is passionate about the quality of his terroir and the role it plays in producing beautifully refined, understated Pinot Noirs that stand out from the Central Otago crowd. He has previously commented: We are slightly quieter wines. Lots of Central Otago wines go “wow” – ours are kind of “come and get us”.

We recently hosted Sam at our London office where he took us through the current releases and we were deeply impressed. We tried three of their Pinot Noirs: the original Pinot Noir and two very rare single vineyard wines, the Last Chance and Fusilier. These are the jewels of the range and are hugely collectable and desirable. In Sam’s own words: “In some exceptional vintages, listening carefully, we realize that one [of our vineyards] may have something extraordinary to say in its own right. It is only then that we will make one of these very rare single-vineyard wines."

This approach yields superb results; these are unpretentious but incredibly elegant wines that are a joy for Pinot lovers. Writing for WineOrbit.com, NZ wine expert Sam Kim describes the range as “formidable”, awarding both single vienyeard wines a staggering 97 points apiece.

With this praise in mind, we are delighted to have secured this direct allocation from Two Paddocks, including a considerable number of the very rare single-vineyard wines. These are selling quickly, so please see below for remaining availability:
