We are delighted to offer a rare opportunity to own a Six Bottle Vertical Collection Case of one of the best Super-Tuscan buys around: Siepi from the Mazzei family’s historic Castello di Fonterutoli. Specially created by the winery to celebrate 20 years of Siepi’s production, this is a fantastic chance to own six vintages of an iconic Tuscan with tremendous pedigree.
Siepi is undoubtedly a special wine. An equal blend of Sangiovese and Merlot that combines structure, richness and opulence, it is produced from a tiny 6ha plot of vines. Italian wine expert Gambero Rosso called it “one of 50 wines that changed Italy’s wine style”, while Antonio Galloni has previously described himself as “blown away” by Castello di Fonterutoli’s wines and described the winery as a rising star of the region:
“I have seen my fair share of transformations in Italy over the last few years, but not many that can match what is currently taking place at Fonterutoli…”
With this in mind, the chance to taste and compare six vintages of Fonterutoli’s flagship wine is an extremely exciting prospect indeed. Especially given that, despite its consistently high scores, the estate’s hitherto under-the-radar status has kept prices very reasonable.
The vintages included in this one-off, ex-cellar case perfectly capture the evolution of the Siepi, and include the 94 point 2007 - described by Galloni as “one of the best Siepis I have ever tasted” - and the superlative 98 point 2012, which James Suckling called “easily the best Siepi ever”.
With back vintages of Siepi always hard to find, this is a very special buy indeed and a must-have for those seeking an insight into one of Tuscany’s most exciting wines.
Contains one of each of the following:
2012 Siepi: 98 points James Suckling
2011 Siepi: 94 points Monica Larner
2008 Siepi: 92 points Antonio Galloni
2007 Siepi: 94 points Antonio Galloni
2006 Siepi: 92 points Antonio Galloni
2005 Siepi: 91 points Wine Advocate
