FINE+RARE have secured the last 30 cases direct from the négociant of 1997 Léoville Las-Cases. Described by Robert Parker as "a star of the vintage", this wine was Wine Advocate's joint fourth top-scoring red Bordeaux from 1997, just one point behind L'Eglise-Clinet, Pétrus and Ausone, on a level with Mouton-Rothschild and Château Margaux, and ahead of its neighbour Latour.

Parker, who has described Léoville Las-Cases as "a wine meant for very long-term cellaring", said that this "compelling St Julien... should turn out to be one of the most concentrated and longest-lived wines of the vintage."

It also impressed James Suckling, who described it as "clearly outstanding" and Stephen Tanzer, who called it a "lovely wine". Furthermore, it has received an average score of 91.7 points from 113 community tasting notes on Cellar Tracker between 2002 and 2016.

Having remained undisturbed with the négociant since being bottled, the provenance of this mature St Julien is impeccable.
