The Pouilly Fuisse Clos de Prouges 2014 from J.A. Ferret, a Burgundian producer described by Robert Parker as “the Montrachet of Pouilly Fuisse” is a stunning buy from an excellent white Burgundy vintage.
The Tete de Cru Clos des Prouges comes from a single vineyard of 50 year old vines, where low yields provide excellent weight, density and focus that, in combination with first-rate winemaking, always make this taste like a much more expensive wine.
This 2014 is no exception: from a great year for Chardonnay, it’s full-bodied, beautifully intense and drinking superbly already despite its youth. This is a fantastic effort from a domaine described by Robert Parker as producing “glorious, hedonistic examples of Pouilly Fuisse at its best”.
