The Chateau Badette 2015 is the kind of wine we love to offer at FINE+RARE. Made from 45 year old vines and available in tiny quantities, it is a hard-hitting St Emilion worthy of a place in any cellar.
Back in May we reported on Neal Martin's top twelve wines "that could represent some of the best value in 2015." The first wine on his list was Château Badette, with Martin saying: "Not a Saint Emilion that I am overly familiar with, but their 2015 was absolutely superb... this wine shows the potential quality." We have therefore been keeping an eye out for the release ever since, and here it is...
Château Badette is a tiny eight hectare estate, located a stone's throw from Pavie Macquin and Troplong Mondot. Despite being released at less than half the price of either of these neighbours, with 92-94 points Badette outscored Pavie Macquin and equaled Troplong Mondot in Wine Advocate. This also caught the attention of James Suckling, who awarded it 92-93 points and Antonio Galloni who said of this "solid showing" that "the 2015 Badette hits the palate with notable intensity and pure power."
Completely modernised this year, Château Badette produces only 2,500 cases from its 45 year old vines. FINE+RARE have secured 100 of those cases and are currently the only UK merchant to do so, meaning we expect it to disappear quickly. Don't miss out on a chance to own this excellent wine.
