“Is this perfection? No, it is better than that, if that is possible.” Respected New Zealand wine expert and critic Sam Kim of Wine Orbit is unequivocal in his praise of Villa Maria’s new flagship red from Gimblett Gravels. He awarded it a perfect 100 points and called “this stunning wine thought-provoking and sensually awe-inspiring.” And he is not alone in his admiration:
“A flawless Cabernet… This sits comfortably alongside the world’s best Cabernet wines.” – James Suckling
“This is a new flagship label that in my view justifies its exalted price tag. It’s quite an extraordinary wine… Collectible and age worthy red.” – Bob Campbell MW
As New Zealand’s most awarded winery, Villa Maria’s success looks set to continue if the quality of this first bottling of Ngakirikiri – Maori for “the gravels” – is anything to go by. Jancis Robinson described 2013 in Hawkes Bay as “nigh-on perfect” and Villa Maria themselves highlighted that: “2013 in Hawkes Bay will go down as one of the region’s greatest red wine vintages.”
Only 1,000 cases were made – with only 200 being offered to the UK market – so don’t miss out on this first ever opportunity to own a wine that is likely to set the benchmark for New Zealand Cabernet…
