"Outstanding. This is Latour firing on all cylinders"
99 POINTS – NEAL MARTIN, VINOUS
Château Latour needs little introduction – the First Growth estate produces some of the world’s finest, and most collectable, wines.
Among the most powerful and long-lived wines in Bordeaux, this Pauillac property is rightly revered.
Today the château has released small volumes of the remarkable 2009 vintage direct from its cellars. The 2009 is considered one of the best wines Latour has produced this century – a rich, ripe and voluptuous wine with extraordinary ageing potential.
Destined to unfurl beautifully over the next half-century, Latour’s 2009 has been given 100-point scores by several critics, including the Wine Advocate’s Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW and James Suckling, who described it as “a perfect wine”.
“Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Latour is unashamedly youthful with bold blackcurrants, black cherries and warm plums notes plus nuances of cedar chest, aniseed, beef drippings, truffles and tapenade with a waft of tilled black soil. Full, concentrated and powerful in the mouth, it has a rock-solid frame of super ripe, grainy tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing very long and wonderfully minerally. Just a baby – this needs time! Drink 2022-2080.”
