The arrival of spring marks the release of our FINE+RARE recommended rosés to enjoy over the warmer months ahead. This year we are thrilled to add a brand new wine to the season’s line-up: Porquerolles Côtes de Provence Rosé from Domaine de l’Ile.
An exceptional wine from the Côte d’Azure’s idyllic Porquerolles island, and as elegant as its owner, CHANEL, this is a remarkable rosé that we are certain will not remain undiscovered for long. The property has been making wine since the early 1900s, but was recently acquired by the French fashion house, owners of Château Rauzan-Ségla and Château Canon in Bordeaux. In 25 years, they transformed these largely under-performing estates into two of the most in-demand wines of Bordeaux.
Sharing the same philosophy as its sister wineries, Domaine de l'Ile has invested in a stellar team, enlisting acclaimed winemaker Nicolas Audebert (read our recent interview) and vineyard manager Pierre Etcheberry. 2019 is the vintage of the handover to this revered winemaking team, resulting in a wine of exceptional quality.
This will remind you of your favourite Provençal rosé, but with an elegant freshness and mouthwatering salinity that evokes its island terroir. We think this may well be the best rosé buy you will come across, given the high standards of production and winemaking credentials behind the domaine.
F+R is proud to be the exclusive UK distributor of this very special “island” wine. Place your order today for delivery to UK addresses before the Bank Holiday weekend.
