2019 CHATEAU CROIX DE LABRIE

SAINT-EMILION

“This is really special and intense, showing incredible energy and brightness”

97-98 POINTS - JAMES SUCKLING

Today sees the release of Chateau Croix de Labrie 2019, a Saint-Emilion Grand Cu estate that certainly stood out in James Suckling's 2019 Bordeaux report, garnering a staggering 97-98 points, it is one of the highest scores of the vintage.

We tasted the wine ourselves and were blown away by the quality, it certainly hits way above its appellation statusThe nose is magnificent, with such a broad array of fruits and spice aromas that have such clarity and perfume. High quality oak tones and lifted perfumed spice all swirl from the glass. Fantastic colour, incredible fruit definition. It is opulent, rich and powerful, whilst the tannins remain succulent providing freshness on the palate. This is a very serious, low production, top quality Saint Emilion in 2019. But be warned, with under 1,000 cases produced it is likely to sell out fast.

Axelle & Pierre Courdurie are the winemakers and owners of the property and work with consultants Michel Rolland and Hubert de Bouard (Chateau Angelus) on the wine. The vineyard is 100% organic certified, and yields are tiny for Bordeaux, at just 25 hectolitres per hectare.

The plots are located on Badon (near Pavie), Saint Sulpice (beside the first parcel of Valandraud) and Saint Christophe des Bardes, on the famous limestone plateau. The 2019 vintage is 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an incredibly impressive wine and certainly one not to miss.
