Today sees possibly one of the final releases of the 2019 Bordeaux En Primeur campaign and one of the rarest - Chateau Clos de Sarpe 2019.

The property is tiny and blessed with terroir unlike anywhere else in Bordeaux, resulting in wines with a remarkably low pH, creating tremendous freshness despite the high concentration of fruit. With the ever-warming climate, this unique trait has seen this estate flourish, particularly in the warmer vintages of the modern era. The combination of rich, dense fruit and mineral freshness is extraordinary, giving the wine such charged energy, opulence and power as well as an incredible ageing potential.

However, production is miniscule, with typically around 1000 cases produced. With an already strong following, this will be a popular choiceDon’t miss this unique and very special Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.

Wonderful aromas of blackberries and wild mushrooms with bark, conifer and wet earth. There’s so much contrast here with lots of ripe, wild fruit and round tannins, following through to the finish. This is a very exotic, wild wine. Extravagance with bright acidity at the same time. The old-vine cabernet franc made this special. From organically grown grapes. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc.

"Another beautiful wine in the making from this tiny estate, the 2019 Château Clos De Sarpe reveals a dense purple color as well as a killer bouquet of crème de cassis, black raspberries, classy oak, graphite, tobacco, and violets, picking up a bloody, iron-like character with time in the glass. This full-bodied, concentrated, beautifully balanced 2019 shows the purity and elegance of the vintage, and while it should be accessible in its youth, it's also going to have 25-30 years of prime drinking."
