Sauternes like no other: Ch. Gilette

Ch. Gilette is unique. Despite rivalling Ch. d’Yquem as one of Sauternes’s leading names, the wines manage to fly under the radar.

This 4.5-hectare estate crafts extraordinary, age-worthy sweet wines, matured for a remarkable 20 years in concrete tank. Unmarred by the oak that is traditional for the region, the resulting wines are complex, vibrant and pure.

You’ll find them on Michelin-starred wine lists around the world, while the cognoscenti have been quietly collecting them.

We have two Collection Cases, sourced from the estate this year, each containing three vintages of these extraordinary wines.

This Collection Case comes directly from the château (released in 2022), containing three vintages of Ch. Gilette’s extraordinary sweet wine. Aged for a remarkable 20 years in cement tank, these Sauternes are remarkably complex and age-worthy. The 1989 is “thoroughly gorgeous” according to the Wine Spectator’s James Molesworth, the 1996 “wildly expressive” and the 1983 “saturated with quince, glazed peach and dried apricot”. This three-bottle case contains one bottle (75cl) each of the 1983, 1989 and 1996 vintages of Ch. Gilette, presented in a wooden case.

This three-bottle case contains one bottle (75cl) each of the 1979, 1988 and 1990 vintages of Ch. Gilette, offering the chance to explore the evolution of this remarkable cement-aged Sauternes. These unique wines are incredibly age-worthy and complex. James Molesworth (the Wine Spectator) describes the 1990 as “a jaw-dropper”, while the 1988 is “remarkably subtle” and the 1979 has “stunning range and length”. The wines are sourced directly from the estate itself (ex-château 2022) and presented in a wooden case.
