Preview of 2006 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne

By Fine+Rare

Sep 4th, 2015

The newest release of the Taittinger Comtes de Champagne is nearly upon us and it looks like being a monumental wine. Already rated a 97+ points by Galloni, it's hotly anticipated so look out for our offer early next week. In the meantime, here’s a brief history of this glorious label as well as a link to our extensive listings of older vintages.

Comtes de Champagne, Taittinger’s prestige cuvée, is widely acknowledged as one of the most elegant and aromatically concentrated Champagnes in the world. Made entirely from Chardonnay sourced from 6 Grand Cru sites in the Côte des Blancs, this cuvée is only produced when the harvest is of exceptional quality, worthy of a vintage year. Only first press juice is used to ensure delicacy and only after an unhurried ageing of almost 10 years does this cuvée emerge from the cellar.

Tattinger’s Comtes de Champagne is a rare and lavish treat that can be enjoyed upon release but will require patience in the cellar to fully appreciate its potential. For those who love Champagne this wine is simply breath-taking.

Indeed it is on an incredible run of form and so it well worth perusing our extensive listings of back-vintages as there is some serious quality for both the drinker and collector on show.
