Bordeaux EP 2017 Campaign - Week 4 Update

As expected we had a busy week of releases.

Whilst demand was steady for most, a number of releases were in particularly high demand. Chateau Beychevelle, Chateau Clerc Milon and Chateau d’Armailhac all sold out on release, with huge interest, particularly from the Asian market. Closer to home, both the white and red releases from Domaine Chevalier proved popular - with a sensible price reduction of 20% on their red wines… despite very positive scores from the critics made for a good buy. Chateau Duhart Milon also proved a popular choice.

Slightly under the radar, a release you may have missed (that we found to be very impressive during the en primeur tastings) was Chateau Nenin, the Pomerol property owned by the Chateau Leoville Las Cases. After a long day of tasting we arrived at Chateau Nenin exhausted but on trying the Nenin, all our spirits collectively lifted and we instantly recognised the quality of the wine. Bright, fresh red fruit flavours with a great energy surge, fine tannin and tremendous harmony on the palate. Chateau Nenin was typical of many Pomerol and Saint Emilion properties who were hit by the frost. Due to their best sites being on the plateau it was only their lesser vineyards that were lost. Great for the consumer, the 2017 Chateau Nenin, made only from their top terroir neighbouring Le Pin and Trotanoy is a fantastic Pomerol. To secure a case click here.

Next week is set to be very busy on Tuesday and Wednesday and there is a strong possibility of some big releases coming out prior to VinExpo Hong Kong the following week. We will keep you posted on all major releases.
