2014 Bordeaux: a wine of the vintage?

By Fine+Rare

May 22nd, 2015

This morning sees the release of 2014 Pichon-Lalande, a wine that we rated as one of the vintage's best.  Nicolas Glumineau, a man with both 2009 and 2010 Montrose on his CV, is getting his feet under the table at Pichon-Lalande and the 2014 is everything that Comtesse should be: elegant, feminine and regal.

Moreover, it is pure, pure Pauillac.  This is a strong recommendation at GBP 624 per dozen in bond.

Reserve de la Comtesse should not be overlooked at GBP 209 per dozen in bond.  This is another very pure expression of Pauillac that can easily mix it with the big boys.  Fill your boots..

This afternoon saw the release of another F+R pick, Ch. Léoville-Lascases at GBP 920 per case in bond.  As with Pichon-Lalande, this was one of our favourite wines of the vintage that is comfortably up there with the very best of 2014.  A dense, powerful Lascases, this is one 2014 that will want some considerable time in the cellar.
