2013 DE FIEUZAL BLANC
This "stunning Graves" was one of Robert Parker's whites of the vintage. He awarded it 94-96 points and described it as "possibly the greatest Fieuzal since the legendary 1985." Neal Martin agreed, saying: "It needs 3 or 4 years in bottle to really show its mettle, though instinct tells me that it will be worth waiting for." That means this hard-to-find white is now entering its drinking window...
2005 HERMITAGE TARDIEU LAURENT
A Syrah from 60-80 year old vines described by Rhône expert John Livingstone-Learmonth as "very consistent". So much was expected from this great producer in a vintage Jancis Robinson described as "successful... a long term prospect which may rival 1990." And it didn't disappoint, with 95 points from Neal Martin and 18 points from Jancis Robinson, who called it "rich and magnificent".
2013 LA ROMANEE LOUIS JADOT
A Premier Cru from a vintage labelled "outstanding" by Wine Advocate, which has already proven hugely popular, not only with the critics, but also in the market. Allen Meadows praised its "exoticism", Stephen Tanzer complemented its "superb fine-grained texture" and Neal Martin called it "one of Jadot's best 2013 whites."
2009 BRUNELLO CERBAIONA
Antonio Galloni calls this"a strong showing from one of Montalcino's great artisan estates". A view echoed by Monica Larner, who awarded it 93 points and said it "shows the signature sophistication this iconic estate is celebrated for". In 2015 Diego and Nora Molinara retired and sold the estate, so wines like this from "outstanding" vintages are much sought-after.
2005 HILLSIDE SHIRAZ KAY BROTHERS
First planted in 1891, the The Kay Brothers' vineyards bring into question their New World status. In fact, Robert Parker calls the winery "a veritable museum of how things were done back in the 'ol' days'." Hailing from Wine Advocate's highest ranked vintage for McLaren Vale, this "glorious, full-bodied wine" earned 96 points from Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW and is now in its prime.
2015 ANGE DOMAINE DE L'ECU
A wildcard for the adventurous: a beautifully packaged, biodynamic, Nantais Pinot Noir aged in amphorae. Yet to be scored by the critics, but it seriously impressed the FINE+RARE team. On 2015 Loire, Jancis Robinson said: "Pinot Noir reached full ripeness, and very promising quality." John Gilman praises "the superb heritage of great wines produced from this domaine."
