Roger Belland

Roger BELLAND and daughter Julie work side by side as the fifth and sixth generation of the Domain Belland and its 23 hectares situated across Les Maranges, Santenay, Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay and Pommard. Selected grass is sown between rows to reduce use of herbicide and to prevent erosion; in fact much effort goes into respecting the terroir and improving typicity. Chardonnay grapes go through a pneumatic press before fermentation in stainless steel tanks then its into oak barrels for malo-lactic fermentation and also lees stirring. After 12 months, wines are then bottled. After a week’s cold maceration Pinot Noir grapes spend 3 to 5 weeks in fermentation before stabilization and then they mature in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months before bottling.
