Soft wood frames the fresh and spicy dark cherry, cassis and Asian-style tea scents. The ultra-refined middle weight flavors possess a highly seductive and supple mouth feel, all wrapped in an ever-so-mildly austere finish. This is a classic Chaumes that should also drink well early on. Jan 2016, www.burghound.com, Drink: 2020+

Matured in 50% new oak, the 2014 Vosne Romanée 1er Cru les Chaumes has a surfeit of energy and tension on the nose that is very precise and defined. There is lovely focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very well judged acidity and a svelte, strawberry and raspberry confit finish that lingers nicely. This is struck through with sophistication and class...a case of less equals more. Nov 2015, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2016-2030

(from 30-year-old vines just behind the house, which Cheurlin described as the youngest of the domain; in cuve): Good medium red. More flowers and soil tones than primary fruits on the nose. Initially juicy, tight and less open to inspection than the village wine but ultimately silky and fine-grained, with an intriguing touch of salinity. Finishes with sneaky length and spicy lift. This will need time in bottle to stretch out. Jan 2016, www.vinous.com

A wine from the best view in Vosne … or to be more precise from the plot located just above and next to the garden of Domaine George Noëllat … overlooking La Tache. This is one of the best location on Les Chaumes and that is indeed showing in this wine. The 2014 Les Chaumes is gorgeously floral and expressive. In the nose juicy red fruit – raspberries, hint of pomegranate and plum, very floral with a wide range of Vosne spices – cinnamon, peony rose. On the palate rich, almost silky, yet vibrant with a lovely core of energetic red fruit .. quite openly knit with a fine view to the terroir. 50% new oak used … for this beauty. Adorable .. cant wait to taste this again … Nov 2015, www.winehog.org, Drink: 2024+
