Even better, with fabulous richness and length, the 2012 Coteaux du Languedoc Terrasses du Larzac (same blend and elevage as the 2011) knocks it out of the park with vibrant, pure aromas and flavors of black cherry, raspberry, licorice, crushed flowers and serious crushed stone-like minerality. Medium to full-bodied, with building richness and tannin, it stays light and elegant on the palate, with beautiful mid-palate depth. A delicious drink now, it will be even better in another year, and drink nicely through 2022. ||Created in 2008 and a collaboration between a number of vignerons (Oliver Jullien of Mas Jullien being one of them) and Montpellier wine merchant Jean-Baptiste Granier, who is also the assistant winemaker at Mas Jullien and who makes these wines, Les Vignes Oubliees has an almost coop feel, yet certainly delivers solid quality. The focus is on higher elevation vineyards located around the village of Saint Privat, and the winemaking involves complete destemming, indigenous yeasts, fermentation in stainless steel and aging in 10% new demi-muids and barrels. www.lesvignesoubliees.com; eRobertParker.com.April, 2014
