1985 Taylor

Dubbed the “Latour of Portugal” by Robert Parker, the quality of Taylor’s output has made it world-famous. Considered one of the benchmarks for Vintage Port, its wines are loved the world over for their elegance, poise and power.

This 1985 Taylor’s Vintage Port is no exception and one we are delighted to offer at an incredibly good price. With 30 years of aging in Taylor’s cellars, it combines perfect provenance with delicious full-bodied flavour for spectacular results. This is a firm buy - and with Christmas just around the corner, would make a perfect addition to the festive table.

What’s more, it represents outstanding value for money and despite the decades of perfect storage and impeccable pedigree and heritage, prices for this prestigious Port remain extremely reasonable. A great opportunity to add something truly special to the cellar, we are delighted to offer:

A very youthful deep garnet core with ruby rim. This has a much more precocious nose than the -83 with ripe blackberry, raspberry coulis, black olives and a certain minerality to it. Very fresh and well defined, the palate is full-bodied, certainly more structured and complex than the previous two declarations. Notes of black cherry, fig, raisin with a hint of savoury fruit towards the finish that has great length and refinement. Still in its youth, this has great potential and might be over-shadowed by the ensuing two vintages. Nov 2007, www.erobertparker.com.

Medium ruby. Beautiful aromas of flowers and fresh plum, with hints of stems. Full-bodied and medium-sweet, with gorgeous silky tannins and a long, long finish. This is just starting to come around and offers wonderful flavors. Long life ahead, but ready to try. '77/'85/'97 blind Port retrospective. Drink now. – James Suckling , Wine Spectator 2008
