Moderate reduction renders the nose impossible to assess. Otherwise there is good intensity and freshness to the muscular and more mineral-driven medium weight plus flavors that terminate in a distinctly austere if hugely long finish. This is noticeably less evolved than any of the prior wines and is clearly going to require extended cellaring. Jan 2016,, Drink: 2029+
Deep, bright red-ruby. Precise aromas of black cherry, licorice, minerals, anise and earth, with a touch of musky reduction. A step up in energy and verve from the Charmes-Chambertin, conveying a strong impression of inner-mouth tension to its purple fruit and minerals flavors. A touch of peppery energy gives a light touch to the firm-edged finish. Jan 2016,
The 2014 Ruchottes Chambertin Grand Cru was just a little reduced on the nose and took some time to open up. The palate is crisp and firm in the mouth, quite masculine and strict. For me, I would have liked a little more flesh to come through on the finish. Certainly this does not stack up to the Ruchotte from Mugneret-Gibourg or Rousseau that I tasted, and it seems to be overawed by the delectable Charmes-Chambertin. Perhaps just enduring a dull patch? Let's see how this shows once in bottle. Nov 2015,, Drink: 2018-2030
