2015 Rocheyron

Made in St Emilion under the stewardship of Peter Sisseck, the genius who made Pingus one of the world’s most collectable (and expensive wines) Chateau Rocheyron is an eye-catching  proposition in 2015.

Suckling liked it, awarding this “beautiful wine” 97-98 points while Neal Martin praised this, “wonderful Saint Emilion that is imbued with Sisseck's craftsmanship”.

Impressive and with only 800 dozen made in an average vintage and availability already very tight, this is a St Emilion to snap up while available.

The 2015 Château Rocheyron, owned by Silvio Denz and Peter Sisseck, is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc cropped at 35 hl/ha between 6-17 October. Matured in 30% new oak, the nose was primal but well defined, very pure with layers of dark cherries and crème de cassis. The palate is smooth on the entry, very fresh and harmonious, and the tannins are fine and supple in the mouth with a fine seam of acidity and a long, caressing finish. The Cabernet Franc works beautifully here, lending complexity and personality. This is a wonderful Saint Emilion that is imbued with Sisseck's craftsmanship. A beautiful wine with finesse and focus. Full and ultra-fine textured with blueberry, tile and clay. Salty and subtle. Very pure. You almost want to drink it now. Clarity. Apr 2016, www.JamesSuckling.com

A Peter Sisseck (Pingus) and Silvio Denz (Ch Faugère) wine. First vintage 2010 but this is the best yet. Delicacy and character in the exquisite fruit. So fresh and refined on the palate with finely honed tannins. Long and linear with great length and persistence. Limestone terroir gently evident.
