Average Score 88.17

The 2015 Ripeau is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that was picked between October 1-7 and matured in 100% new oak. The bouquet marks a melioration vis-a-vis older vintages, a little more refinement and precision coming through, just flirting with over-ripeness, but wisely choosing not to step over the line. The palate is medium-bodied, a little chewiness on the entry, but there is good depth and a clean and gently grippy finish. Watch out for future vintages of this estate owned by the Gregoire family. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2020-2035
The 2015 Ripeau offers plenty of near-term appeal in plummy, dark red cherry fruit. Today, the tannins are a bit rough around the edges, but there is good potential, especially if the wine finds a little more finesse during élevage. The 2015 is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The juice saw about 30 days on the skins and the wine is aging in 100% new oak. I am cautiously optimistic here. Apr 2016,
Lightly dusty nose - rather unusual in St-Émilion. Very sweet start and then awkward rasping tannins. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2022-2030
