Relatively light, tart, and lean, Trimbach's 1986 Clos Ste.-Hune is still young, but it appears to lack the extract, concentration, and intensity of top vintages. I found it decidedly inferior to the 1983 and 1976.||The notes for this wine are taken from the description of Series II - Flight A of the 1995 tasting conducted in Munich by Helga and Hardy Rodenstock. Many years after the tasting from which this note derives allegations were made concerning the authenticity of old and rare bottles of wine sold by Hardy Rodenstock to collectors around the world. The matter has been the subject of numerous articles, litigation and at least one book. Mr. Parker believes that the wines served to him at this tasting were authentic so this note and the others from that specific tasting continue to be posted on eRobertParker.com. The Trimbach estate was established in 1626 and is now being run by the 12th generation of the family, Pierre and Jean. Riesling Cuvée Frederic Emile is the signature wine of the family. It is a dry Riesling with lots of mineral character and a great ageing potential. The jewel in Trimbach's crown is the Clos Ste Hune vineyard, which is located just outside Hunawihr. Riesling Clos Ste Hune is widely recognised as one of the finest expressions of Alsace Riesling.
